Weaning
My son will be 12 months old next week. He is breasfted. When he was 4 weeks old we took him to the doctor because he was very colicky, the doctor told me to eliminate dairy (mainly milk) from my diet. I did, and he was a completely new baby after that! When he was about 4 months I needed a tried to find a formula to help supplement while he was at daycare. The doctor had us start with soy due to his sensitivity to the milk in my diet previously, he got extremely sick when we tried soy. Now that he is approaching one year I would like to wean him. I have tried mixing 1 ounce of whole cows milk in with his bottle of breastmilk. He hasn't gotten sick or had any other reactions, HOWEVER, he now wakes up frequently at night. He appears to be uncomfortable. These night wakings (5 times at least) started after I started the whole milk. My question is, are there any options for me to wean him? Should I try a lactose free whole milk?

weaning
We tried this. At first I tried yogurt becuase it is it is supposed to be tolerated by the lactose intolerant. It was sneaky becuase she seemed to tolerate it but kept getting up at night. Then she started to bite and become aggressive. It seems that when she is battling with her allergy (GI reactions and skin) she becomes very aggressive. Since I wasn't giving her mass quantities, I couldn't see a full-blown reaction as before. Since her reaction is also a gut one I had the doc to recheck for blood in her stool and sure enough it was there.
