HELP!! Intolerance to Milk Proteins
[b]Help...I am trying to figure out twhat o do with my 9 yr old daughter. We found out this yr after many yrs of problems that she is intolerant to the protein in milk. Are there any substitutes that anyone knows about? She loves her cheeses and ice cream and yogurt but of course she can't have them and it is hard on her and us. Any suggestions about maybe soy (or does that have the same proteins) or veggie cheeses. Thanks to all for any help or information at all.

There is soy yogurt that I have found. There are also soy and rice ice creams. Another option, as far as frozen deserts go, is fruit sorbet. Be careful to check the ingredient label though, because many of these are processed in a facility that processes dairy. I have had a great experience with Neocate, but I don't know how a 9-year-old would do with the taste. Try organic or whole foods stores for these items, because they are not commonly found in grocery stores. I hope that this is helpful to you.
