Question

Hi, my six week old son has been diagnosed with a milk protein allergy and has been placed on neocate for the past 2 weeks. This appears to have sorted out his stool and eating problems and he now has a healthy appetite and is gaining weight. However, his wind has increased significantly since going on neocate. We have problems winding him which can take hours, particulalry at night. This means that it is impossible to settle him after his late night feed around 11pm and he can stay awake until 5 or 6am. During this time he will squirm with wind and cry which wakes him up. He does settle when lying on my chest, however the minute we try to place him on his back in his moses basket, he screams and curls his legs up, apparently in pain.We have tried Infacol before each feed but this didnt seem to make any difference. My doctor has recommended a homeopathic remedy called Colocynth which we've been trying for two days - not seeing any affect so far. Of course as he's up all night, he's exhausted and so sleeps lots during the day.Is this behaviour normal and is there anything we can do? Please help.Very tired parent.

My son has MSPI. He also has had an allergic reaction to every solid food that we have given him (carrots, sweet peas, green beans, bananas, applesauce, sweet potatoes). His bloodwork came back positive or borderline for milk, soy, oats, wheat and many others. The only thing he can tolerate besides his Neocate formula is Beechnut rice. Are there other baby products he can eat that are milk, soy and gluten free? I am concerned that he needs to be starting solids to develop his eating ability with texture.
