Question
My baby is 1 month old today. She is getting breast fed, but I have now introduced a small amount of regular enfamil into her diet. At about 2 weeks she started to vomit consistently after each feeding. It is not projectile, but is a lot more than spit up. She often has a good amount of breast milk or formula come out her nose and mouth after eating. She sounds as if she is gasping for air and then vomits. In addition she appears to strain a lot, her face turns very red and she has a large amount of flatuence. I am an MD myself, but not a pediatrician. I called my pediatrician's office who insisted that she is "spitting up" and not
vomiting, but I know the difference. Over the last few days she has now developed an extensive rash on her face, neck, and anterior upper chest. It started as red raised bumps with a white center, but is now more confluent, dry, patchy and she has yellow crusting areas around both eyelids. I think the rash looks like atopic
dermatitis or
eczema, but not sure. Does this sound like a milk
protein allergy with a resultant skin reaction? I have switched to neutramigan and she has still vomited, but have only had her on it for a day. What do you think is going on?? Any suggestions?
