Question

Hi,I have a two year old who was allergic to cow's milk from birth and then developed an egg allergy and now a peanut allergy. (he has now outgrown the Cow's Milk allergy). I also have a 3 month old daughter, who since birth has had a runny nose, reflux, mild colic and initally excessive bowel movements (even for a newborn- in excess of 10 times a day!). She was initially being breast fed, but due to a hospital stay around 5 weeks for bronchiolitis, she ended up on formula, as my supply dried up. Her bowel movements settled for a while, although her vomiting continued (all day and night, small amounts), but for the last two and a half weeks she has had watery, mucousy stools, her vomiting is the same, she seems quite happy in herself and continues to feed. Baby rice has made no difference to her vomiting and neither has ranitidine syrup (two weeks of treatment so far- 3 times a day). As I went through milk allergy with my son I am obviously beginning to wonder if this could be factor for her? If she is allergic then she is following a different pattern to my son who got instant hives the moment he looked at milk, but he was about the same age when his presented itself. Am I just being over cautious here or should I get her checked out for allergy?

My son is almost 13 months. He tested positive to milk, egg and peanuts when we did RAST at 7months of age. He was breastfed until 10 months, but his eczema was so severe (even though I had an extremely eliminated diet) I quit breastfeeding. We started him off on soy formula, which he did great for a while, except for a little (but persistent) eczema around the mouth area. Now, at 13 months, I tried some organic soy formula, and went back to Isomil - (I also gave him some tofu and soybean paste soup) and he started pooping 8-10 times a day(it doesn't seem like diarreah because his stool is pretty firm. sometimes loose, but not watery). it's been six days. No other symptoms of illness - no fever, and he plays fine. Pediatirican recommended just giving him oral electrolyte for 24 hours. My pediatrician and i am starting to wonder if he's developed allergies/intolerance to soy now. When he was younger, I tried nutramigen and he would NOT take it. It smelled and tasted nasty. I wonder if Neocate tastes as good as soy formula. Will my son take it? And will it help?
I have a four month old son. When he was born I was brestfeeding and would prejectile vomit, had a rash and would cry all the time. The doctor took him off breast milk and tried infamil with iron, same thing would happen. So then he tried lactofree and then soy, the same thing. Now he is on Alimentum and he is getting worse. Now we have bloody diarrhea and he is losing weight. We have now swtiched doctors and the new doctor is sending him to a specialist in Orlando, FL to evaluate. We do know that he has GERD, but the doctor thinks that there is more. He has been on neocate for the 1 day. Do you think that formula will help him? I do not know much about it, except that it is very expensive.
My daughter was put on Soy formula and medicine for Acid Reflux at around a month old. She has also suffred recurrent wheezing episodes lasting about 2 weeks at a time, and we are seeing an asthma specialist and taking pulmicort twice a day as well as using xopenex as needed. At her 9 month appoinment with her pediatrician, I was told to start introducing several foods, including milk products slowly over the next months. I did and didn't notice immediate signs of food allergy, although she has wheezing episodes often. About two months later, she went through two courses or antibiotics to treat a sinus infection (with wheezing). I thought she had been eating a lot of dairy (cheese had become her favorite food) and took her off dairy just to see. Within 24 hours, the wheezing was almost completely better. My asthma doctor seems to think a milk allergy isn't likely but my pedicatrician has told us to avoid milk products. I feel like we need to know whether it is a true milk allergy to know how careful or not we must be in avoiding products that contain milk protein (for instance do we avoid just milk or also caramel food color?). We have also been told skin and blood allergy tests are not helpful at her age (currently 12 months). How can we get an accurate diagnosis?
will they do allergy tests on a 7 month old and how?
