Milk allergy: which formula?
Do you or some of your friends have a Cow Milk Allergic baby? If yes, what do you think about the formula’s effects? Is there something you like more and something other less?

Healthy Times Soy v. soy toddler drink? Soymilk ok?
My son was diagnosed with a milk allergy (along with other allergies) at 3 months. I had a feeling something was wrong as he was spitting up a lot, gassy, cramping, etc. Finally, I found blood in his stool. He has been breastfed exclusively at home and when I returned to work, I pumped. (Yes, that means no dairy for me either. I miss it.)
Now at 13 months, he is doing well and takes about 1 or 2 bottles of Healthy Times Soy formula at daycare if I didn’t bring enough breast milk. That one seemed the best. Organic, easy to find. On the weekends, if I am at the store or something, my husband gives him fortified soymilk in a bottle. Is that ok? When should I move him off of soy formula and onto soy Toddler Drink? Is there a difference or is it just marketing? I am concerned he will not get the vitamin D or calcium he needs. He is a good eater now, but if he starts to listen to his older brother he may decide that what he is eating isn’t so cool after all. Big brother is very picky – with no food allergies.

Once my daughter was about 18 months old, we switched her to Silk Soy milk. It is organic and it is fortified with calcium, vitamins A and D. It has the same amount of calcium as cow's milk. We flavor it now with chocolate syrup, but she only gets it twice a day. You have to pick your battles with kids. She also takes a multi-vitamin with extra calcium. The vitamins and 2 servings of soy milk each day provide 800 mg. of calcium, which is the RDI for her age.

Btw, I wouldn't worry too much about older brother giving him a hard time. He's going to do that anyway. To combat that problem in our house, we don't even buy cow's milk anymore. We do everything with the soy milk now. It is so much easier and we don't run the risk of her getting the wrong thing.
