Question

My 23 month old son has soy induced enterocolitis. He recently had a food challenge that he failed and was very ill, with severe vomiting, etc. Are there tests that can be done before we would test him again to determine his readiness, and if not what might be a save time tabletable to wait to challenge him again?

My daughter was born on 5/5/06. Following 3 months of extreme fussiness, painful cries and incolsolablility, her GI doctor put her on Neocate as an experiment (try it for two weeks and see if there is improvement). We've been on it for about 5 days now. The first two days were great! What an improvement. Now, however, she's back to being fussy, spitting up (something she never did before) all the time and gassiness. Once she spits up or passes gas she's more comfortable and stops crying/fidgeting until it starts all over again. Her doctor also has us thickening her formula with Beechnut rice cereal (a change from the Gerber rice cereal that we had her on before). Any ideas as to why she would suddenly develop these symptoms and how we might eleviate them?
My son is 14 weeks old and I have been breastfeeding at this point. Around 10 weeks he started spitting up -- ALL day. 20-30 times a day. My doctor said he has reflux, but I felt there was something more to it. I tried quitting milk and soy and he did great -- he wouldn't spit up as much. His diapers are still full of mucos. Originally I thought this was due to his congested nose but when I started reading more, realized it might be related more to an allergy.I put my son on Neocate yesterday. He has been on it for almost 2 days. I'm still pumping and trying to eat well. His diaper today was full dark almost black poop. NO mucos. BUT he is spitting up the formula like crazy. Is this normal?Secondly, would it be bad for him to eat formula during the day @ daycare and be breastfed at night?LASTLY, are there any resources available that says what I can and can't eat? I have given up soy and milk both. With soy-based formula he broke out and I just think he doesn't do well when I eat milk products. So are there any lists that says what I can eat?Thank you for your help!
My 3 month old son has a milk allergy and I feel he also has a soy allergy because he continues to have breathing problems, ezcema, bowel problems, and severe reflux. However, because he is gaining weight his pediatrician is unwilling to approve Neocate for him. She believes he will simply outgrow his condition. What is the best method for proving that he does in fact need Neocate?
